The 50 richest stations of the Barcelona metro

The figure shown is the mean net household income of the census section (seccion censal) the station sits in, from the INE Atlas de Distribucion de Renta de los Hogares for 2023. A census section holds roughly 1,000 to 2,500 residents, the finest geography Spain publishes income at, and it describes the neighbourhood rather than the riders. The head of the ranking is upper Barcelona and the city's central spine. Sarria-Sant Gervasi dominates through the L7 (Avinguda Tibidabo, El Putxet, Placa Molina, Padua), Les Corts and Pedralbes through the L3 (Maria Cristina, Palau Reial, Zona Universitaria), and the Eixample through the four lines that cross it (Passeig de Gracia, Diagonal, Verdaguer, Girona, Tetuan, Urquinaona), with Vila Olimpica added on the seafront. The gap between the richest station and the poorest on the network (Ciutat Meridiana, 28,479 EUR) is a factor of 3.7. Two honest caveats: Avinguda Tibidabo and Maria Cristina tie at 104,774 EUR, which is the ceiling the INE publishes (the value is censored), and Sant Feliu | Consell Comarcal, although it serves Sant Feliu de Llobregat, falls inside a section of Sant Just Desvern, one of the wealthiest municipalities in Catalonia, so its 79,676 EUR says more about the neighbouring town than about Sant Feliu.
